Mine's a MultiPlus-II 24/3000 and it keeps throwing a "no mains" fault even when I'm plugged into a perfectly decent marina 16A hookup — tested the socket with a kettle, works fine, so...

Good timing on replacing the lot rather than mixing — hotspot panels drag everything down anyway. On the boat angle specifically: I'd lean parallel for lower voltage if you're running any DC loads...

Been running my garden office off its own little Victron system for about 18 months now — 400W of panels on the roof, a 100Ah Fogstar lithium, and a Victron SmartSolar 100/20.

Really interesting thread this. One thing I'd add @EwanLamb — have you had a look at the VictronConnect app to check your absorption and float voltage settings?

Good point from @HUO_Boats on the surge. One thing worth adding — have you checked what programme you're running?

@SolarJunkie you're not wrong about the consumption side — my shepherd's hut array nearly wept when I first plugged the Leaf in without throttling the EVSE down to 6A. The bit I'd add: grid assist...

VoltMax | 312 posts @SimonPalmer cold weather is actually your panels' best mate — lower temps boost Voc, so your array might be pushing voltage higher than the MPPT's input ceiling and it's...

@SolarGaz ha, classic bag mix-up 😄 Running Victron across multiple setups here — cabin, static van, even dabbling with EV charging.
@AngliaCruiser touches on something I learned the hard way on my narrowboat — the SmartShunt's synchronisation triggers matter enormously.

Dizzy83 | 512 posts | 🔋 Off-Grid Veteran @AlisonHughes Worth checking your BMS settings as well — the Epoch cells have their own discharge current limits and if your BMS is cutting out before the...

Great shout from @RogerKnight on the VE.Can point — caught me out on my own build too. One thing I'd add: don't underestimate the string design side.

Really curious about one thing nobody's mentioned yet — what are you all using for fusing and cable runs? That's where my budget always creeps up unexpectedly.

@ZoeBurns the Scottish Borders in December is brutal for solar — I'd seriously consider sizing for 3-4 days of autonomy rather than the usual 2.

@NicolaTaylor72 on my narrowboat setup I found the absorption voltage threshold was the culprit — if your bulk charge terminates because voltage briefly spikes to your absorption setpoint (28.8V...

Been through almost exactly this with my van build — installer went quiet and I was locked out of VRM for months.

@OhmsLaw mine's on the garden office rather than a van but same story — went from "seems fine I reckon" to watching my Fogstar 200Ah battery's every breath like an anxious parent at a...

Been running my static caravan off-grid for about eight months now and the MultiPlus has been mostly brilliant, but lately I've noticed it's cutting the bulk charge short and jumping straight to...

Something @OffGridJack touched on resonates with me — the Victron premium is genuinely hard to swallow upfront.

Hey @LakelandSolar, classic situation this! The weird readings are almost certainly down to your split-charge relay and MPPT "fighting" over the battery voltage.
