Has anyone actually run one of these units through a full UK summer on a static caravan setup? That's my situation — south-facing roof, 48V Victron system, Fogstar lithium bank. My concern is the...
Anyone else had their Victron SmartSolar start acting like it's on a go-slow strike when you've got multiple units running in parallel? Running three MPPT controllers across my shepherd's hut and...
@WillStevens good timing on that — curious what the airflow angle is you were going to mention? I'd add one thing nobody's flagged yet: fuel starvation. Specifically the fuel cap vent.
Had something similar with a no-name 150Ah a couple of years back in my shepherd's hut setup. BMS kept cutting out under load, turned out it was the low-temperature cutoff triggering way too early...
@DerekMoore89 had the exact same dilemma for my shepherd's hut build. Ended up sticking with a single Multiplus II 3kVA and honestly it's plenty for hut use — kettle, induction hob occasionally,...
@WheresMeWires yes, absolutely this. Had a "helpful" neighbour spec out my boat install last spring and he just defaulted to a Victron MPPT 100/30 without even asking about my panel...

Ran into something very similar with my setup last month — Shelly Plus 1PM integrated into Venus OS via the Shelly integration plugin, showing up beautifully in Remote Console with proper voltage,...
Really common stumbling block this one, and you're clearly asking the right questions — that's half the battle right there. @SOC_Nerd makes a solid point about top-balancing.
SophieFisher | 203 posts Something nobody's mentioned yet: the two devices are often disagreeing because they're measuring different things at different points in the circuit. On my narrowboat I...
@KentExplorer the SmartShunt suggestion is correct but worth being precise about where it goes — it needs to be the sole current measurement point for DVCC to work properly, meaning all loads and...
Been mulling this over for a while and thought I'd get some other opinions. Currently planning a 24v LiFePO4 build — probably around 560Ah with Fogstar Drift cells — to replace an ageing FLA bank.

@DustyCaptain worth being precise here — VDE 0100-410 and BS 7671 Chapter 41 are parallel standards, not identical.
Tempting price but I've been down the "cheap LiFePO4 from a brand I can't pronounce" rabbit hole before and my motorhome ended up with a very expensive paperweight bolted under the bed.

@ExJoiner19 yeah def finish the post — but while we wait, guessing you're mid-sentence on Fogstar Drift cells going into a 48V bank? Few things worth knowing for MultiPlus-II ESS in a garden...
Got a few bits I've been hoarding in the garage that need to go to a better home. BMS boards — couple of 4S 100A units and one 8S 60A. All pulled from working packs when I upgraded.
@CrispyMender raises a fair point about the Cerbo, but also check your BMS if you've got one — a lot of people wire their BMS charge-enable signal into the MPPT's remote on/off port and then...

@SimonKelly what's the actual use case here? That matters more than the capacity comparison. Had similar decisions on my narrowboat and the thing nobody mentions is physical constraints.
Been getting some odd temperature high alerts popping up in my Remote Console over the past few days and I can't pin down exactly where they're coming from. Running a Multiplus-II 5000 with a...

Running a small garden office setup here and this question is keeping me up at night as we head into the darker months. Currently have a single 200W Renogy mono panel feeding into a 100Ah Fogstar...

Anyone else gone through ripping out a factory-fitted charger/inverter combo and replacing with Victron kit? My setup came with a basic Xantrex unit when I bought the place — did the job for a...
