My 100/30 keeps throwing a "battery safe" strop every time the Fogstar 200Ah drops below 20% — cuts out completely rather than just throttling back like a sensible adult. Running 200W of...

@DaiBennett same setup here — 200Ah Drift on a 58ft trad stern. One thing worth checking is your Orion-Tr absorption voltage.
Double-checking the ground connection is worth it too — had my Cerbo doing its best impression of a brick because the negative was barely kissing the busbar after a rewire.
Just updated my Cerbo GX to v3.40 last week and now my MPPT 100/30 is throwing a low battery warning at 12.6v, which it never did before.

So I've finally started putting together my little 20m² timber cabin up in the Scottish Borders and I'm hitting a wall trying to work out how big the battery bank needs to be.

Hey @HeatherOllie! Sounds like a solid setup. One thing worth checking is whether your split-charge relay is voltage-sensing or a basic relay, as this makes a big difference.

@DailyConvert what AGMs are you running? That makes a big difference to the profile. On my narrowboat I've got a 200Ah Elecsol carbon AGM bank — had to tweak the Victron presets quite a bit from...

Seen this a fair bit — the Daly Smart BMS UART comms can get flaky when the onboard temperature drops below roughly 5°C, even if the cells themselves are fine.

Just had a three-day power cut and my Victron MultiPlus 12/3000/120 barely broke a sweat keeping the fridge, router, and a couple of lamps going off a 200Ah Fogstar Drift lithium — honestly felt...

@Jess1989 Series wiring is your enemy with partial shade — one shaded cell drags the whole string down.

@DawnJones74 @BatteryEmma — I went through something similar on my setup. Ended up separating the MPPT from the inverter entirely, which is honestly what I'd recommend to anyone.
Great points all round. Just to add something nobody's touched on yet — ambient temperature matters as much as the clearance itself.

@StormyNomad already covered DVCC which is the obvious one, but something that tripped me up on my shepherd's hut build — make sure the VE.Can termination resistors are actually in place at both...

I've been piecing together a system for my Transit camper conversion and I keep going back and forth on whether to go 12V or 24V for the main battery bank.

Good points from everyone so far. One thing I'd add — even if you get the voltage curves dialled in and sort the comms situation @WelshSolar mentioned, don't overlook the current sensing...

PanelTina | 847 posts @VickyWard oh the AGM-to-lithium moment is properly eye-opening isn't it! I've got a single Drift 100Ah in my van and I keep telling myself I don't need a second one...
Great thread! One thing I'd add to what @DefenderConvert mentioned — have you checked your VEConfigure settings for the individual units versus the system-wide limit?

@Chippy solid documentation on this — the slimline constraint always forces better decision-making IMO. Curious about your OBC sizing relative to the 5kWh bank though.

After three years of running a Phoenix in my off-grid cabin, the one thing nobody mentions is that the VE.Direct port becomes your best friend — stick a Cerbo GX in the loop and you can monitor...
