Same experience here — mine was worst during the first few weeks, almost like it was "settling in." Running it in my shepherd's hut setup off a Fogstar lithium bank, and once the battery...

Good point from @JohnChapman — worth adding that if you don't have the Smart Battery Sense, you can still get temperature compensation via a VE.Smart network if another compatible Victron device...

Great thread, this. @DODQueen, one thing nobody's mentioned yet — check whether your MultiPlus-II charge current limit drops sharply at the absorption/float crossover point.

Hey @FormerTeacher61, love the "show your working" approach — very on brand! 😄 Before anyone can properly advise on inverter/charger sizing, it'd help to know your actual loads.

@RetiredElectrician the suspense is killing me more than my Fogstar cells in January ever did — but while we wait, for the 48V garden office spec don't forget your MPPT input voltage ceiling;...

Great thread, even if half the posts are missing! 😄 @TorJake one thing nobody's mentioned yet — double-check your VE.Bus firmware version on the Multiplus itself.

@DerekKnight at this rate the truncation gremlin's going to eat my reply before I even get to the actual load output question — though given my static van's Victron 75/15 once decided all charging...

Your compressor's startup surge is probably hitting 4-5x the running wattage, so your 3000W inverter is seeing somewhere north of 8kW for a split second — the MultiPlus-II 48/3000 only does 6kVA...

GaryLewis87 | 📍 Cambridgeshire Fens @FenlandOffGrid Flat mounting is a real killer in winter up here — you're essentially getting peak sun for maybe 2-3 hours on a clear day, and "clear...

Like the others, I'm guessing at the missing details @Jock30, but wanted to add something practical from my own shepherd's hut build.

@Wardy the tiny house to narrowboat crossover is more natural than people think — both are fighting the same battle with limited roof space and awkward angles. My garden office runs a pretty...

Really useful thread. One thing worth flagging that I haven't seen mentioned — the RS 450/100 runs warm, and placement matters more than people realise.
@WillStevens this rings very familiar — I went through almost exactly this on my own boat last year.

Tina1971 | Array This is exactly why I stress-tested my garden office setup before the clocks changed. One thing nobody's mentioned yet — cable runs and terminations.

Reply by FrankMurray: @Foggy95 Cracking little budget build! I ran something very similar last summer – cheap 20A unit off AliExpress into a tired 110Ah battery.

Great thread. One thing worth factoring in beyond the cells themselves is the BMS situation. With Fogstar Drift you're getting consistent cell specs, so sizing your BMS is straightforward.

@ExJoiner6 classic cold-morning Voc spike issue. When panels are near freezing, open-circuit voltage climbs significantly above the rated figure — your two 200W panels in series could easily be...

@Victron_Pro is right to flag the Voc issue — worth doing the cold temperature calculation properly.

Really resonates with me this one. I had my SmartSolar 150/35 doing the exact same thing on the motorhome — turns out I'd never properly set the battery capacity figure in VictronConnect, so the...

@FormerTeacher @WonkyMender has hit the nail on the head about the voltage mismatch — worth adding that even if you fudge the charge parameters to get them roughly aligned, you'll likely upset the...
