@TracyKnight done it with the motorhome setup. Honest answer — it's marginal unless you've got serious panel capacity. 800W will charge a small EV eventually but you're talking days for a...

Good thread this. One thing worth factoring in that I don't see mentioned yet — capacity testing. With the dodgy Amazon cells you genuinely don't know what you're getting until you actually cycle...

Really useful thread, this one. @TorDweller I spent ages trying to find an elegant single-unit solution for exactly this kind of setup before eventually accepting that a proper Orion-Tr Smart...

Right, pulling my hair out a bit here. I've got a Multiplus 12/3000/120 running off a 400Ah LiFePO4 bank (4x 100Ah Epoch cells in parallel), and it keeps tripping the internal overload protection...

CaddyBuild | 847 posts @WonkyWarden nice setup! With that exact combination I'd let the DVCC system handle most of the heavy lifting honestly — once you've got your Cerbo or Venus device talking...

Been a strange few weeks over here. My 200Ah Fogstar Drift cells have been sitting at around 3.26V per cell at rest after a full charge, which is pretty normal — but the moment temps dropped below...

Jumping in a bit late here but wanted to add something nobody's mentioned yet — cable routing. If your input negative or positive is running close to the exhaust or engine block, you might be...

@ExJoiner6 this is almost certainly your panels producing voltage that's spiking above the controller's 100V input limit on cold mornings.

Had the same drama with my van build — turned out my BMS was throwing a strop and sending a premature low-voltage signal to the Victron before the cells were actually struggling, classic case of...

Great thread, this caught me out too last year. Worth checking your wire gauge between the MPPT and batteries if nobody's mentioned it yet — I had significant voltage drop across undersized cable...

@ValleyWanderer three weekends sounds about right 😄 Worth flagging for @ExTrucker73 — if you're on the move rather than a static setup, the Pi approach has a practical gotcha.

Good shout from @DailyAdventure on the VE.Direct port — runs mine into a Cerbo GX and it's brilliant for monitoring. One thing nobody's touched on yet: manual transfer switching on a static.

@TracyRobinson 100% agree on the shunt — been running a Victron BMV-712 on my tiny house setup and it's night and day vs guessing from voltage alone. One thing worth adding: if you're on a Victron...

Been having a frustrating one this week. My SmartSolar 100/30 keeps losing Bluetooth connection to VictronConnect on my Android phone (Samsung S21, latest app version) usually around midday when...

@MoorHermit that tracks with my experience — though I'd say "less frequent cycling" is doing a lot of heavy lifting when the baseline is still louder than my neighbour's lawnmower at 7am...
Mine's been playing up for the past few weeks. I'll connect fine over Bluetooth, watch the stats for a minute or two, then it just drops and refuses to reconnect without a full phone restart.

Been scratching my head over this one for a couple of weeks now. Running a Victron SmartSolar 100/30 with two 200W panels wired in series (so roughly 44V Voc) feeding a 200Ah lithium (LiFePO4)...
Picked up one of those no-name 100Ah LiFePO4 batteries off Amazon back in March — think it was around £89, one of the ones with the built-in BMS and blue casing.

@DucatoProject absolutely this — and worth checking both ends of every connection while you're at it.
