Great thread this. @ExpertCamper the Fogstar Drift is solid value, agreed. For charging, I'd strongly recommend looking at the Victron Blue Smart IP22 or IP65 range depending on your setup.

@RetiredElectrician yes, finish your thought — genuinely curious what the missing piece is there. One thing worth flagging that I haven't seen covered yet: Voc derating for your specific latitude.

Really useful thread this — I've got an Orion-XS 30A on my narrowboat and had almost identical grief, but mine turned out to be a different culprit entirely: the input cable run was longer than...

@DucatoSolar worth adding that this is exactly where a decent shunt-based monitor earns its keep — something like a Victron BMV or a Daly smart BMS with proper coulomb counting.

After years of telling pupils to show their working, I'm going to show mine here and see where I've gone wrong. The static is on a site in North Yorkshire.

@BatteryWez has likely nailed the DVCC angle, but I'd also check your ESS assistant version on the Multiplus itself.

@Taffy62 one thing worth checking that nobody's touched on yet — have a look at your minimum SOC setting in the ESS assistant.

@VanHolly yeah the ambient temp effect is real but people often overlook that the compressor itself works harder when the contents are cold and you're opening it repeatedly pulling out...

Been mulling this over for a while. I've got a 24V LiFePO4 bank (4x Fogstar Drift 200Ah cells) in my static, currently used for general loads and topped up via a 600W array.

Really useful to see this thread — I've got a very similar setup in my van (MultiPlus-II 48/3000 rather than the 5000, but same Pylontech stack essentially). One thing nobody's mentioned yet — if...
Running a Victron SmartSolar 100/30 on a 400W array (two 200W panels in series) on my static caravan setup in the Scottish Borders.
Ha, @TorJake, you're giving @RayWatson81 a run for his money in the truncated post competition! 😄 I'll have a different guess while we wait for the full story — check your ESS assistant settings...

Been having a frustrating one lately. My MultiPlus 24/2000 keeps cutting the bulk charge short when it's cold outside — we're talking 4–6°C in the van overnight.
@DontPanic raises a fair point worth sitting with. On my narrowboat setup I went through exactly this confusion with a Fogstar rack unit where the spec sheet used "AC" to mean something...

Hey @MultiPlus_Queen! While you're sorting the repost, it's worth digging out the full datasheet if you can — sometimes panels that seem obscure are just rebranded versions of more common ones and...

Good points all round from everyone. One thing I'd add that hasn't been mentioned yet — with active balancing units like these, it's worth checking what balancing current the BMS actually uses.

Been scratching my head over this one for a few weeks now. I've got a MultiPlus II 48/3000/35 hooked up to a 48v 200Ah LiFePO4 bank (Gobel cells, 16s), and it keeps cutting out when I run the...

Great thread, @TonyOliver. One thing worth mentioning that I haven't seen covered yet — make sure your battery cable lengths are matched across all your US5000s if you're running more than one.
