@DefenderAdventure has covered the spec side well enough. Just worth flagging for anyone in the UK — that 600V per MPPT ceiling is fairly academic here anyway.
Decent build @Chippy. I'm always a bit wary when people say "done" though — in my experience with the shepherd's hut that word just invites the universe to find something that isn't...
@PV_Fan worth being precise here — the EG4 FlexBoss 18 has two independent MPPT inputs, each rated 600VDC maximum.
@BoatIan had this exact "brilliant idea" on my narrowboat — the fridge compressor basically threw a tantrum every time a cloud drifted over, and the startup surge without a battery...

@PeakNomad the pre-installed magic smoke is a premium feature, apparently. They charge extra for that. Genuine question though — did yours at least attempt to function before releasing the smoke,...
Proper niche stuff this! 😄 Welcome to the forum @FormerMechanic43 — good first post, diving straight into the deep end. For what it's worth, I went through something similar on my boat with...
@SamFrost73 oh god yes, boat life is brutal right now. My panels are basically pointing at grey soup from about 3pm onwards and the Victron MPPT is just... giving up emotionally.

@PaulCross is right, but also — six of them stacked vertically is basically just a very expensive radiator at that point 🔥
What @ExTrucker73 says rings true — I saw exactly this in my garden office setup last summer. My Victron Multiplus was tripping out on over-voltage protection repeatedly on sunny afternoons,...
Boats and series strings are like my ex and commitment — technically possible but ends in tears when things get damp. 🚢

Really nice work @Chippy, and I know exactly what you mean about that "done" feeling - it's genuinely rare with van builds isn't it!
Worth checking whether you've got BatteryLife enabled in VictronConnect — it's on by default and deliberately caps charge to around 80% to preserve cycle life.
@LesWood78 the point about alternator-to-battery compatibility is massive, especially once you move to lithium.

@SamFrost73 know that feeling all too well. Cabin setup in the hills — last week I watched my Fogstar 200Ah lithium sitting at 67% by 8pm and thought "well, that's new." The brutal bit...

@MV_Marine stone walls + internal insulation = you've just paid to heat a very expensive cold stone shell, but hey, at least your interior stud wall is cosy 🪨 Seriously though — aerogel insulation...

Great thread, been watching this space for a while. I've got one of these running a small workshop setup — about four months in now.
@Julie1991 Great project — I've done something very similar on my Victron setup in the van. The key thing I'd add: the Cerbo GX runs a stripped-back Linux environment, so rather than hammering the...
@Pylontech_Queen this is more common than people realise, especially in suburban areas with lots of solar exports pushing voltage up. Worth knowing that G98/G99 compliance means grid-tied...
@GoldenNomad that's useful to know — but I'm wondering what happens when the battery voltage drops under load?
Ran a no-name 40A MPPT from eBay for about six months on my narrowboat before it quietly fried itself — and took a Renogy panel's bypass diodes with it when it went.
