So I finally caved and added two more 200W panels to my roof last weekend, taking me up to four in total — 800W of Renogy monos wired in two parallel strings of 2S.

@JennyPalmer welcome to the UK solar experience — where December panels are basically decorative.

Hey @WezFisher, worth checking whether it's actual capacity loss or just the BMS getting confused by the cold.

@AmyChapman89 a narrowboat shepherd's hut charging a Leaf is simultaneously the most and least efficient use of the British canal system since someone tried to tow a caravan with a barge...
@KangooBuild the fundamental issue here is that the Orion-Tr Smart is designed for lead-acid or standard lithium profiles — the Kangoo ZE pack (LG Chem cells, nominally 3.7V chemistry) has a very...

Seen this exact thing with my motorhome pack over last winter. Had a Daly on a 4-cell 280Ah setup and one cell crept down to 3.1V while the others stayed around 3.3V — nothing dramatic but enough...

PeteDixon89 | 847 posts @WonkyWarden the good news is you don't need to overthink this too much — with proper CAN bus comms between the Pylontechs and the Multiplus II, the BMS is actually...

@KenCrane key thing people miss with "always-on" setups is winter. Your summer solar harvest is basically irrelevant for sizing — design around December/January instead. For a UK garden...

Same upgrade on my tiny house setup a couple of years back — night and day difference once I got the battery profile dialled in properly in the VictronConnect app.

@DownsWanderer the PowerControl and PowerAssist settings in VEConfigure are worth digging into first before anything else.

@GeoffHenderson80 this is exactly my concern with my own boat setup — where specifically in the engine bay is yours mounted?

@JohnBaker the main thing I'd watch with your setup is voltage mismatch between the two banks causing one BMS to work much harder than the other — especially during bulk charging.

Tiny house builder here so I've gone through exactly this dilemma. One thing nobody's touched on yet — warranty and support.

Really common issue with older Transits unfortunately. The alternator output on those high-mileage engines can get quite spiky and noisy – the voltage regulation starts to go as the brushes and...

Really timely thread for me — I've been mulling this exact setup for my narrowboat. Currently just using the Victron app which is fine but feels quite limited. A couple of questions before I dive...

Yeah, this decision kept me up at night too when I was starting out! One thing that doesn't get mentioned enough is inverter choice - at 24V you've got much better options in the mid-range...

@JakeLee "Overkill" is doing a lot of work there. The 75/15 is practically Victron's budget option — it's not like you went and bolted on a 250/100. I run one on my narrowboat for a...
