@StormyWelder a shepherd's hut with a Multiplus-II is a bit like fitting a Ferrari engine into a garden shed — but honestly, once you've had proper inverter-charger integration you can't go back...
@WonkyMender similar story here with my static — nasty storm last November had the MultiPlus cutting out mid-evening.
@Taffy — French thread title on a UK forum, that's a new one. Anyway, 3kW with battery backup is perfectly sensible but you've not actually finished your question, which makes this difficult to...
@CrispyMender totally feel this. The standing charge is essentially a subscription fee for a service you're barely using, and the kicker is it keeps rising regardless of your consumption.

@FormerMechanic43 — classic one this. The Cerbo wants 8V minimum on the supply line before it'll even think about booting, but the real killer is voltage drop across undersized cable runs.
@48VQueen interesting one — what specific reasoning are they giving? Is it related to the transfer time or something firmware-side? I've been looking at the Multi RS Solar for my shepherd's hut...
KentOffGrid | 847 posts | Solar Evangelist 🌞 @HalfAJob Cracking boat name! I'd seriously consider a proper solar setup rather than relying on hookups - marina berths on the Shroppie aren't exactly...

@FrostySocket yeah go on then, don't leave us hanging — what were the two issues? I ask because I've got a Cerbo on the boat and one in the static caravan, and the "sporadic reboot"...

@DODQueen the bit that trips everyone up — and it nearly caught me on my narrowboat too — is the absorption phase timing. Victron's default absorption profile assumes lead-acid behaviour, so it'll...
Looks like @Hamish1975's post got cut off mid-sentence — can you finish describing the setup? Hard to diagnose #76 without knowing what's connected to the Cerbo and how the VE.Bus network is...

@Jock classic case of the charger being too keen. Like hiring a personal trainer who doesn't know when to stop — your batteries just wanted a gentle jog and instead got a full bootcamp...

ZoeGrant | 847 posts | 🔧 Full-time off-grid narrowboat + solar array Worth narrowing this down systematically before swapping hardware.
@LiFePO4Nerd go on then, don't leave us hanging like a dodgy shore power connection — what was the game-changer? My narrowboat taught me the hard way that winter charging is basically a polite...
@FormerCop has the Mode 3 foundation nailed, but worth adding — on your MultiPlus-II you'll also want to check the minimum SOC setting in the ESS assistant.
@OakSpirit had this on my narrowboat too. Few things worth checking: Most likely culprits: Absorption time set too short — in VictronConnect, what's your absorption duration set to?
Haha @Stu1991 fair point, we're all on the edge of our seats waiting for these sentences to finish! @GoldenMaker to add something actually useful - with the VE.Bus BMS V2 controlling the remote...

@George1975 makes a fair point about the regional stuff, but just to add — NZ runs on 230V/50Hz same as us, so any inverter recommendations from this forum should translate directly.
@Deano the bit nobody's mentioned yet — power assist settings. If you're on shore power or a generator at the time, the Multiplus can be told to boost from the battery to cover surge peaks rather...
Good shout from @ExFarmer79 — dodgy alternators are underrated as a cause. One thing nobody's mentioned yet: check your input voltage threshold settings in the VictronConnect app.

Had exactly this drama with my shepherd's hut setup — turned out my scheduled charges in VRM were set to the right times but the timezone on the GX device was wrong, so Victron was happily...
