Victron BMV-712 showing different SOC to my BMS — which one do I trust?
@ShesBeRight BMV-712 every time for me. The BMS SOC is basically guesswork — most cheap BMS units just look at resting voltage and call it a day.

@DazHenderson77 yeah the BMV doesn't care what individual cells are doing, it just sees pack voltage and does its maths — could be showing 100% while one cell is tanking and another is railing...

@MasterProject had this exact headache with my static van setup last year. Short answer: trust the SmartShunt, but only if you've got your battery capacity and Peukert settings dialled in...

Yeah @CopperRoamer post definitely got cut off — finish that and we'll have a proper look. That said, MultiPlus 12/3000 on a narrowboat is a solid setup.

Had this exact problem last month on the static. Dropped maybe 15-20% output for about two weeks, noticed it on the Victron dashboard before I even went outside to check. Rainwater doesn't cut it...
